Christa Patel

Licensed Master Social Worker (under supervision by Lisa Delaplace, LCSW-S)

You remember a time when fighting about family boundaries or parenting strategies weren’t
the “norm” but those days feel like a distant memory. Don’t you wish you had the tools to
change that?

I’m Christa, and I help couples just like you: ones that have it within them to create unity and
peace in their home by equipping them with the tools they need to set reasonable expectations
and embrace the inevitable chaos of life with neurodivergence in the home.

Many of today’s solutions for couples with neurodivergent partners or children are based on outdated stereotypes and pathologizes neurodivergent individuals as a problem to be fixed, leading so many to feel confused and helpless. I know that your circumstances are unique, so I will support your goals by providing empathic and affirming support aimed at highlighting strengths and accommodating (not punishing) deficits.

First, we will examine the relational dynamics or parenting styles that are causing discord in the marriage. Then, we discuss communication strategies and accommodations that will be most effective for your situation. Through our work together, you’ll create consistency and cohesion in the home.

I’m passionate about helping neurodivergent individuals, couples, and multicultural families build stronger connections, improve communication, and feel truly seen and understood in their relationships.

My training in parenting and communication means I have the expertise you need and deserve when working through the complexities of a marriage impacted by neurodivergence or cultural differences in the home. But at the end of the day, you want to know you’re working with someone who “gets” what it means to be a tired parent fighting with your partner about how to handle the day to day.

I get it because I am a late identified neurodivergent adult and we have a complex mix of needsand culture clashes in our home. When we work together, you won’t just get a trained therapist. You’ll get someone who truly understands what you’re going through.
